Default Advanced-design side-by-side tandems for rent in Marseille

Shot this pic of the cutting-edge side-by-side tandems for rent at the
Parc Borely in Marseille, France. I wonder what kind of tubing
they're made from?

FYI: "tandem" seating implies one seat behind the other. Two seats
abreast are called "sociables". And yes, bicycles (with only two tandem
wheels) of this variety have been made in the past.

Four wheelers with bench seats have been available for rent at tourist spots
for years.

Ah yes, but this one is different. Just look at the advanced Rectangular Hollow
Section chassis fabricated at the bleeding edge of materials science by Marcel's
Trailer and Hitch City. Further note the subtle geometry of the central tiller
steering and the dreadnought ram prow(tm). Ain't no Marseillais taxi driver
gonna cut that baby off if he risks getting a hunka rusty metal jammed in his
door.

Love that "sociable" cycle. I wish we could do this in America
-- not just in a closed community/resort area -- but on all streets
and stay alive. Of course, if you add a really good quality shock-
absorbing front and rear bumper, you're survival chances would be much
better.

Right, Leo. I visited Bob Barrett's shop in Berkeley several times
during the '70s when he was making a very high-quality sociable. His
side-by-sides were ridden in many Bay Area centuries. Bob is an
exquisite machinist. He is still making his sociables, I believe, and
I think they are available through Bicycle Station in Brooklyn, N.Y.
I remember that Bob would work on his sociable bikes when he wasn't
doing some beautiful modifications to his Jaguar XK-120.
