T-Mobile and Jan Ullrich to Ride Giant TCR Bikes for 2004.

[Las Vegas, Nevada] Giant Bicycles is proud to announce that the
T-Mobile first division (Trade 1) Road Race team will be riding Giant
bicycles as of the 2004 season.A contract has been agreed to between
Giant Europe’s President Jan Derksen and Walter Godefroot, Sporting
Director of the T-Mobile team. This partnership further cements the
relationship between Giant Bicycles and T-Mobile whose Mountain Bike
Team is already riding on Giant’s Composite NRS bikes for their 2003
season.

Said Tony Lo, President of Giant, Inc, “We are delighted that one of the
most successful teams in road cycling has selected Giant to be their
weapon of choice for the coming years”.

It will be a busy year for both Giant and T-Mobile with a full calendar
of road races planned for 2004, including the the European Classics such
as Paris Roubaix, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Amstel Gold race and the three
Grand Tours: the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and the Vuelta en Espana.

The team, which includes current UCI points leader Erik Zabel, currently
rides under the Telekom colours but will change its name to T-Mobile
beginning January 1st.

T-Mobile will start 2004 with their usual training camp in January.
During the coming season, they will be given the latest innovative
bikes, including a special one for the Classics as well as a successor
to the highly respected TCR Composite frame that is currently available.

Giant, one of the few bicycles companies which designs, develops and
manufactures all their material in-house, has close to twenty years of
experience with composite materials.

Said T- Mobile Cycling Chief Walter Godefroot, “For some time we have
been following Giant’s significant technical expertise and the
continuous innovations they bring to their bikes, and we feel lucky and
confident that we have secured this leading bicycle manufacturing as our
partner. We feel with their backing we can make another step forward
next year”.

Added Tony Lo, “During the last few years we have made a reputation with
our time trial bike where we have won many stages at the leading tours.
We are therefore very excited and looking forward to see that leading
time trial specialists like Jan Ullrich and Santiago Botero will be
riding our time trial bikes”.

The Team bike will be built with the latest ten-speed Dura Ace group
from Shimano. Giant also plans to make a team replica version available
for customers through their professional cycling retailers.

This also is the end of a very successful relationship Giant has enjoyed
with the ONCE team. Said Giant Sports Marketing Manager Tom Davies,
“Whilst we are very excited to partner with T-Mobile for next season, we
are sad that the ONCE Eroski team could not continue for 2004. Manolo
Saiz and his team of riders and support crew was part of our family and
we have had some great times together. They have certainly been
instrumental over the past six years in helping establish Giant into
becoming a leading bicycle innovator. Their feedback allowed us to build
better bikes, and for that we are eternally grateful”.
