I met up with some old friends at the first rest stop and rode with them. When we reached the halfway point, they ALL pulled out pills and started popping them. "This prevents cramps." etc. Thankfully, I had a bee sting self injector strapped to my seat stay. I told them it was my heroin supply and I fit right in. I take prescription painkillers before I race. So far there doesn't seem to be any proof that taking the painkillers has improved my performance such as to allow me to place better than I otherwise would have placed. I still consider it doping. I know that I wouldn't push myself nearly as hard as I do when I race if I had a repeat performance of that time when I hurt so bad I couldn't walk afterwards. -M |

Marian doesn't need a painkiller, she needs a recumbent. Once you get a woman on a recumbent she will never go back to an upright. Of course, she has to have the good sense to stop racing. That is strictly for jerks. Regards, Ed Dolan the Great - Minnesota aka Saint Edward the Great - Order of the Perpetual Sorrows - Minnesota |
