Can you ignore threads that start with OT (off-topic)?
The headers appear in my newsreader and that annoys me enough
apparently.

Perhaps Thunderbird has a killfile option that will filter out topics
starting with OT. It's been a long time since I used Thunderbird so I
can't recall. I use killfiling to remove a lot of idiocy from the
header list and my life is happier for it.

Lou, going for a ride 10 degree C and sunny.

Tim, not going for a ride since it's 2 deg C and there's 50 cm of snow
on the ground. But I am going to go play jazz for a few hours this
afternoon, so the day is not a total loss.

It was glorious here in PDX this morning, although it has clouded up a
bit. We are having an early spring. Serious global warming in the
PNW. My daffodils are about to bloom, and I already need to mow the
lawn. This is the time of year I wish I lived in a condo. Too much
yard.

I went for a ride through the hills today with my broken ankle now in
a compact splint the fits in to my shoe instead of my clumsy CAM
walker. Nice to be back in cleats.

I went for my first ride in this get-up last Sunday. I climbed up to
Skyline (local road on top of West Hills) and ended up dropping in
with a group of racers. The racers and pseudo racers are out in
droves. So, I'm rolling along with this group expecting to get dropped
on every climb (and there are a lot of them), but it turns out they
are just going easy, so I hang in. Its was such a comfortable pace, I
ignored the fact that I was getting a long way from home and beyond
the point of comfortable return on my gimpy ankle. But I made it home
O.K., and it was a beautiful day. All the mountains were out -- Hood,
St. Helens, Adams and even Ranier. -- Jay Beattie.

It possibly wouldn't be so bad if these wretched little people would
occasionally say something original, but all they do is post
soundbites so the rest of the little people can say, "Me too, I
agree." It's all so pointlessly boring. -- Andre Jute

Yep, beauty - gotta love El Nino.

I got rained on pretty much all week, though. Then today, with
regular chores done and settling down to true a wheel out on the
porch, the siren goes off and it's hop on the "City Bike" for a dash
to the fire station.

I get to see Jefferson on my commute - when not obscured by clouds.
Can see Hood sometimes, too - sometimes both at the same time -
depending on route.
