Default Choppercabras 5th Annual Spring thing!

Choppercabras 5th Annual Spring Thing! Information page

When: May 27th @ Noon. Lagers, the fashionably late will miss out.

Whe Atomic Cycles 17322 Saticoy Van Nuys, CA 91406 (818) 609-0113

What you will need:
1. A functioning bicycle that can be ridden a few miles. Any kind of
bike is acceptable.
2. A Cowboy or Indian costume of some sort. Yes dress up, it will be
ok; you can still be cool and dress up.
3. You, ready to have fun.

How to get he

By Car:

101 Exit Balboa, head North until you hit Saticoy, make a left go till
you see Louise, park. The event location is ½ block west of Louise in
the south side of Saticoy. Parking in the back will be taken up by
event stuff, best to park on the street.

From 118 as above but south on Balboa, make a right on Saticoy.

From 405 exit Sherman Way go West until you hit Louise, North on

Louise as above.

By Bike:

Take Orange line to Louise, North on Louise until you are at Saticoy,
go west on Saticoy, follow the noise and smells, you're there!

By Plane:

Look for mess of bikes, parachute into Ralph's parking lot, and watch
out for Coldstone patrons, they may eat you.

What will happen:

First we will do the events as follows: Midget Devil-Take the Hindmost
race, The Hands of Armageddon Race of Doom!, the Demolition Derby, the
bike ride, the return, go home.

Midget Devil Take the Hindmost:

Twelve 16" kids bikes being raced in an oval track made of old car
tires. The last place rider of each lap is eliminated until there is
only one left. Scabs and a trophy for the winner, loss of breath for
the losers.
The Hands of Armageddon Race of Doom:

4 "Spools of Doom" racing 6 laps one way and 6 midget bikes racing 12
laps the other direction. Two separate races on the same track at the
same time. Some one will get hurt, we can only hope. Spool of doom
riders must wear top hats and midget riders must wear blonde wigs.
Why? Because I'm in charge and I say so.

The Demolition Derby:

Twelve 20" bikes outfitted with metal cowcatcher style rams. One rule:
Win. Smash all others. Crush your enemies, see them driven before you
and hear the lamentation of the losers. You will be hurt.

The Ride:

A "fun paced" cruise through the mean streets of the SFV. Usually a
few (3-8) miles long. We go slowly and stop every so often so slower
riders can keep up. Where ever we go, we wind up back at the shop for
the Return.

The Return:

Go the shop, hang out. There's a bar next store, we'll have some
goodies for riders. Enjoy the wind down, meet people, talk bikes etc.
Fun.

Go Home:

It's over. Leave, scram, beat it. Want to help put stuff away? Good!
You can help. There will be 60-80 car tires, 30 bicycles, a PA system,
and a bunch of other crap that needs to go back into storage and the
parking lot will need to be swept. Yeah, I thought so, just go home
and relax instead. No worries.

The list of Yes!

Can anyone come?
Is it ok for kids?
Can I help?
Can I bring some drinks, food for everyone?
Can I have some fun?

The list of NO'S!

Can I borrow a bike?
Can we ride scooters, vespas, mini bikes on your ride?
Do we need to belong to the Choppercabras to ride?
Can I film your event without asking first?

Notes:

This event is totally free, everyone is welcome. Everyone.

Pictures and/or film of the event.

It's my event, I made it, mine. If you want to take pictures or film,
let me know first. I want copies. If it were not for me you'd have
footage of an empty parking lot, so respect my efforts to bring you a
great time and tell me what you're up to.

The Ring of Death.

The Ring of Death or "ROD" is the ring of car tires that the events
take place in. Entering the ring of death means you are accepting that
you may get hurt, will most likely get hurt, and are not going to cry
to me later about your injuries. If you jump in the ring to take a
picture, you may get hurt, you may damage your gear. If you find this
too dangerous, then by all means: STAY ON THE SAFE SIDE OF THE ROD!
You have been duly warned.

Audience Participation of aforementioned events.

If you want to participate in an event you may understand that you may
(well, for sure) come under some form of bodily harm. There have never
been more serious injures than some cuts and bruises but just so you
know, these events are a bit rough. No kids may do an event but the
ride. Sorry.

If you are a spectator and interfere with any of the events, you are
accepting the fact that the event participants can and may hurt you.
In other words: if you want to join in, then do so. If not, watch, but
not both.

Do not throw the car tires. Don't. It breaks up the action.

Any further questions can be directed to Paul de Valera (that's me) at
