Does ANYTHING put Jack May on a collision course with reality?
Bill Zaumen wrote:

And that's not even taking into account the many and massive hidden costs and subsidies that prop up car transportation. Not to mention the heavy bond debt that we'll be saddled with to pay for Prop 1B. You found nothing and you say I am wrong. I found the data. That is not a proof of anything which is obvious to most people I am not a free worker to find things for people that are not good at finding things. Keep searching, it is there. Given how much you post that is completely wrong, or at least seriously hyped, nobody will believe you if you don't produce the references to back up your statements. As odd as it seems, I have to agree with Bill Zaumen on this point. -- Tom Sherman - Holstein-Friesland Bovinia The weather is here, wish you were beautiful |

As odd as it seems, I have to agree with Bill Zaumen on this point. My local public transportation company put these stats on their website. I thought that the operating expense per passenger mile was telling. About the same as what the IRS allows for business expenses. General Information Service area: Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Population of service area: 1.83 million. Size of service area: 2,500 square miles. Operating budget: $113,807,706. Operating expense per passenger mile: $0.47. Ridership Facts Weekday average passenger count: 84,061 Annual passenger count: 26,067,842 (2006) Breakdown of ridership: 60 percent female; 40 percent male Percentage of riders using bus to get to work: 73 percent Percentage of riders with no other form of transportation: 40 percent Percentage of riders who use the bus more than five times a week: 60 percent Fleet Information Number of buses: 290 Number of fixed-route links: 65 Number of bus stops in system: 5,267 Miles fleet travels on average day: 51,886 miles Miles one bus travels in a year: 62,245 miles Diesel fuel used in average year: 3.974 million gallons Miles per gallon for each bus: 3.9 |

Does ANYTHING put Jack May on a collision course with reality?
http://www.mtc.ca.gov/
Jack May's 5% figure is nowhere to be found, nor is his "two thirds" figure. There is a *forecast* that 61% of the MTC's It[']s on their site and other places. I have read it. You will probably need to do some googling like I did. =v= My point is that I looked on that site, "googling" and all. I spent a lot of time with it, in fact. Your numbers are not there. Provide a more specific reference if you want anyone to believe you. Bay area funding comes from multiple sources, not just the Federal highway funds. =v= Yes, I know that. That is manifest in what I wrote, which mentions multiple sources. Do you have a reading comprehension problem? The Prop B shift in funding because it widely recognized in Sacramento that transit has destroyed our tra[n]sportation infrastructure. =v= Absolute blithering nonsense. Feel free to find a cite to back it up, though. (Note that all your cites so far this year have *disproven* the points you cited them to support, though.) _Jym_ |
