When is a century not a century?

If you had trained this weakness rather than accepting it, your results in the Tour de Donuts might have been significantly better. You are correct. What a dumbass I was (am). On the other hand, maybe it's a limitation of your genetics, who am I to say. You might never become a century winner no matter how many PB&J sandwiches you consume in training. Damn, you've been hanging out with The Pup haven't you? |

When is a century not a century?
With events like the Katy Flatland Century under your belt, it's no wonder you think the TdF is no longer epic. I guess it'd be time to break out that 62 front chainring then:-). Don't forget the ever popular "Tour de Paris" (Paris, Tx) and the "Tour de Italy" (Italy, Tx). Yes, We have all of the "Big Rides"... heh NS |

Don't forget the ever popular "Tour de Paris" (Paris, Tx) and the "Tour de Italy" (Italy, Tx). Yes, We have all of the "Big Rides"... heh NS So if you want to complete a truly "epic" ride, try the RATS (Ride Across Three States) that a friend of mine, Jim Rose, of Orono Maine completes every year. Usually it's some weekend in July, and it's just a loose collection of people (3-10 normally) who show out for it. You start in Orono Maine, just North of Bangor Maine, and ride straight across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont into Burlington. There are a lot of mountains between Orono and Burlington. Here's the kicker. The ride is completed normally in 24 hours or less, or just slightly longer. The challenge is to ride it in less than one complete day. It's a suffer fest. Distance is about 400 miles. Give him a call at Rose Bicycle in Orono Maine to ask him when the next ride is. Good training for those longer races. Tom |

Most of this newsfroup is happy to argue about Coppi and Bobet's domestiques. Half of them actually either were Coppi and Bobet's domestiques, or at least go on training rides with them. Rosie Ruiz was major nationwide news at the time, and there wasn't even any self-reflexive news cycle or Fox News Channel back then. (On the crawl: "Coulter: Ruiz Incident Shows Lack of Morality Due To Secular Education," etc.) Ben over the hill |
