Yeah but one might kill and skin a rabbit in less time than some notable
hydraulic bicycle brake rebuilds.

I can guarantee it, provided the rabbit is alive in ones hands to begin
with. Stretching it's neck takes a few seconds. You can bleed it if
you like, another few seconds. Stretch and cut the skin in the middle
of the back and pull the two halves apart. The rabbit has no skin.
Skinning the traditional way, by poking the back legs through a hole in
the underside takes a little longer and would be necessary if you wanted
a one piece saddle cover, but well with 1 minute I should say.

(I've shot or caught with ferrets and nets, skinned and sold bucket
loads of bunnies. I paid for my weekends away in the series 2A Land
Rover on proceeds from selling rabbits.)

Er, James, it is not that either Chalo or I actually want a bunny fur
saddle cover. Chalo is just being a vivid smartass. He and I both sit
on cow leather, his Swiss, mine British. And if Chalo wanted a fur
cover, I imagine he has mates from his days in the Pacific Northwest
who can send him a dead beaver, and I know a Russian who'll send me a
mink. Not sure it gets cold enough in Austin, Texas, or even regularly
in the green and beloved island, to justify that sort of excess. --

I could use kangaroo leather. I have a couple of skins on my floor.
They feel lovely and soft underfoot. Much like possum fur, Some very
fine shoes are made from roo leather I'm told. No doubt it would be
useful to make bicycle saddles as well. Strong and fine.
