Default Seat Question....

A long time back I had a seat with embroidered "lips" on it. Does
anyone have an idea as to who might have made this? Also, is there
anyone that makes custom seats for mountain bikes any longer?

Speak to James Stewart. He's a hunter. He'll do you a rabbit fur
saddle.

If you mean cow leather, what's wrong with walking into a leather
worker of your choice with the guts of a Brooks saddle and saying,
'Cover this for me artistically.'

If you want people with experience of bicycle seats and artistic
talent, try Kunst und Leder, who made the seats for Pedersen bicycles
but will make you anything, as shown by the samples on this page:
http://www.kunst-und-leder.de/ Personally, I think some of their stuff
is ugly but presumably they do not pass judgment on their customers'
tastes. The point is that they're competent and the rest of their
stuff, presumably their own designs or copies of ancient gear, is
rather nice and simple. Pricey, as in probably four to eight times
what you would pay for high quality leatherwork on the Mexican border;
see above about the guts of a Brooks.
