D R Sole, your replies are getting more pathetic by the minute :-)

You sounf like a small child screaming :"and so are you".

Can't you be a little more creative with your responses, or are you
already working to the upper limits of you vocabulary & IQ.

I'm keeping it as simple as I can so you can understand what I'm saying. If
it's pathetic it's only because I've had to stoop to your level.

That's much better, you're almost making sense. Keep the medication
up, you may get better really soon :-)

Don't give up on the crusade, you may convert one person, one day.
Also work hard to retain your sparkling sense of humour, you would be
a killer at standup..

Bye now.

John L.

Q. What's the most annoying thing on usenet.

A. Anal retentive, verbally challenged, trolling bottom posters who
want the world to conform..

Now you're insulting all the readership who are in fact on medications.

Don't give up on the crusade, you may convert one person, one day.

All rational people agree that the answer always comes after the question.
Fools like you can never be persuaded because you are immune to reason.

How is it better to have no choice but to scroll through comments you've
already read ?

The idea is to trim the previous article(s) such that the points you are
replying to are the only bits contained in the followup.

This should constrain the bits you have to scroll/read through to
a reasonable minimum. Usenet is a store-and-forward medium,
and you rarely get a perfect copy of the news database out to all
the leaf servers (the server I'm using is a perfect example).

Quoting the *relevant* parts of the previous post preserves the
'thread' of the conversation.

I agree it is totally illogical. In the (large) company I work for
everybody top posts probably because that is the way Mr Gates designed
his software. However it is never a problem if you are not aware of
the context then you scroll down.

Personally I don't top post on the internet because I don't use
micro$oft software (unless I have to) and I ran a BBS for 10 years
before the Internet became popular and old habits die hard - however
it is just that a habit

Microsoft's refusal to honour standards when it suits them is well known.
In any event, it only takes a mouse click to move the cursor to the bottom.
If you want it done automatically download

Look, I'm as tolerant as the next person, especially when it comes to
such an experienced poster. However I seriously object to the omission
of hyphens when words spill over to the next line. This is a serious
breach of Usenet netiquette as well as an important indicator of the
decline of the quality of English education in this country!

Ritch.

PS. Your only excuse is if you have been infected by the CokeSpill virus
