Ride recommendations in Souther Wales-Abergavenny Area
Here it is just three weeks from my trip to England and I'm changing plans
as fast as I can due to a horse racing festival that is going in the Cotswolds. So I'm scrambling to get the heck out of that area and decided to go into the SW area of Wales. I've found plenty of areas in the Black Mountains, areas North of Newport and Port Talbot (though I didn't want to go quite that far west). ' I'm thinking something along the lines of http://tinyurl.com/257rj Any lbs recommendations for hiring a bike and any trail recommendations would be helpful. TIA Gary |

The official site for Wales' FC trails can be found at http://www.mbwales.com - these are pretty much your best bet for a day out. Just hope that you're going during the week - they'll be packed at weekends. Any lbs recommendations for hiring a bike and any trail recommendations would be helpful. We could really do with input from Huw and Andy, as they're both round that area. Not sure where they are... You might want to try posting to STW for hire recommendations. TIA Gary Cwm Carn, 1-2 hours (depending on how fast you drive) from Cheltenham. If your going to be based in Cheltenham for the races, bring your lights, as the local crew have a Tuesday night ride. Alternatively come out for the Saturday morning ride from Pitville park (just a stones throw from the race circuit). |

We weren't planning on the Race Festival which is why we are getting out of the area early Thursday morning but will be there Tuesday/Wednesday. If my wife didn't want to be in the Cotswolds I'd spend more time in S Wales. And we're leaving Friday to come back to the States. Just not enough time...... Thanks for the input. Gary |
