Default Rear Disc Brake with no frame mount?

Is there any way to adapt a rear disc brake to work on a frame with no
disc brake mount? I have a Ti hardtail I plan on keeping for a long
time, but it looks as if v-brakes may soon go the way of cantalevers.

There are bolt-on mounts available for non-disc hardtails, but I suggest
you don't bother with installing a rear disc brake since it will not
significantly improve your braking over Vs or cantis, and there are many
disadvantages.

There is no shred of truth in this whatsoever.

Haven't heard much good about the bolt on rear disc mounts. If you like
V-brakes, I would be very surprised if they disappear any time in the
next 10 years. You can use a disc on the front and a V on the rear. If
you are really worried about it, you could buy a lifetime supply of v-
brakes and pads for the cost of changing over to discs.

Cantilevers and pads for same are, er, readily available; so if V-brakes
do go the same way, what's the problem?

Doubt V brakes will go the way of cantis(gee, cantis are still available,
really nice ones) considering the expense, compatibility, weight of discs.

Hmm... After all the positive feedback, I think I'll stick with
V-brakes for the long haul. I'll just pick up some new Koolstop pads.

Shimano cantalevers went away , but there was still a market for them
so others filled the gap. I would imagine a similar outlook for
V-brakes.

Look here
http://www.woodmancomponents.com/pro...scosystem.html

for your disc brake adapter,...but why do you want the power of a disc
brake on the rear wheel?

Imho a v-brake would be enough in the back,...or no brake at all for
the back wheel! read the first bit of this:
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/brakturn.html and see if you still want
that rear disc brake, or any rear brake!
Front brake is offcourse a totally different story....here disc brakes
rule!
