People can get a misleading impression of how much they really enjoy their work from peer pressure and from working such long hours they forget the other things they used to like doing. This makes them act like lemmings and opt out of EU Working Time Directives and things far too easily. Leave on time and ride the scenic route home while it's still light I say. 'endeavor' or 'vocation' or 'profession' or even 'passion' need not be a 'job'. Yes we have choices... that is nice. But then, we always did. The difference is that the choices are steadily becomming less attractive. For most of this decade the best way to get rich was in finance... phoney house-of-cards, ponzy BS. Most people saw their earnings go down, while a few became wealthy. The poorer people who were actually doing something constructive, kept buying because they were able and willing to go deeper and deeper in debt. Now that is over. For most people it wasn't good before, but now they are stuck with paying off their own debt as well as the debt of those who have been playing games with money and getting rich. It's a wonderful country! |
