Non Bike Q - What Type Of Clamp Is This?

Thanks I would consider the type of conduit clamp shown in SMSs bicycle lighting site, with the bolt that would connect to the second clamp going into the camera. An alternative would be to use a rubberized conduit clamp w/ a nylon 1/4-20 screw straight into the camera. Totall cost would be under $1. The type of clamp is shown here http://tinyurl.com/5lc2ps (although you'd want it inverted from that picture, so the flat part is at the top of the bars). I recently purchased one of those for $0.34 at a local industrial supply place for a camera mount on an RC aircraft. It seems great so for for bench testing, but hasn't been in the air due to rain. My first aerial vid was poor due to the angle of the camera, which is why I started exploring these mounts. Come to think of it, i'd use the rubberized mount like pictured above to minimize vibration. Make sure you go a smidge small wht the clamp so you can really tighten it onto the bars. Also, I've heard it's better to use nylon than steel bolts since the threads in the cam are nylon. I can't verify this, or explain why, it's just what I was told. |

Non Bike Q - What Type Of Clamp Is This?

I did see numerous DIY mounts, One Harley mount impressed me. I guess its DIY time. I picked up a cheepo Targus tripod that i'll hack into something. I thought about importing those camera mounts from Taiwan, but there's a 1000 piece minimum order, with a wholesale cost of $10.50 each. I don't think that there's enough of a market for these to order 1000 pieces. |
