It sounds like another case of police incompetence: how can it take 8
hours for police to discover a 4-year-old hiding under the legs of a
body?

From the reports it sounds unlikely that the French cyclist massacred
the family before shooting himself as no weapon has been found.

The British cyclist behaved in a perfectly reasonable manner, though
he probably should have checked the car to see if anyone was still
alive, but I wouldn't call that 'bad behaviour'.

I expect he thought that the French Cyclist had massacred the family
then shot himself. As I heard the news that was my initial thought
too, but now it appears there is more to the story.

But how the Devil the French police managed to forget the first rule
of arriving at a scene of the massacre and failed to check for
survivors is beyond my comprehension. That poor child! And at four
years old she would have had some understanding of life and death. The
mother and grandmother are real heroines for shielding her with their
bodies.

Yes, the sort of story that should be confined to TV, it's shocking when it happens in real life. Let's hope the OP learns his lession about jumping to conclusions, though I doubt it, blind prejudice trumps logic.

Did you not wonder why the both the heading and the post were followed by
question marks, thus making it a question, not a statement?
But yes, you are right, you have proved that jumping to conclusions is not a
good thing by doing just that yourself.

There was a bicycle within 5km, which had run a red light without the
rider wearing a helmet. HTH.

Interestingly it was a cyclist that made the call. I wonder how many
motorists just drove by?

I wonder how many cyclists rode by, muttering about the bad parking and
trying to knock off a door mirror.

Only an extreme bigot would even consider a title of "More cycling rage?" in this context.
