Commissaires American are they?

whatev, i'm not american. the chief commissaire is probably martin
bruin (it was last year), who is a very reasonable guy.

I must say I'm not surprised. *Presumably for the post handbags switch

comes with the turf. anyone who takes part in bunch sprints will have
to do somewhat dicey things and once in a while they will get
penalized. that why the commissaires are there - to make the judgment
call.

if you remember our exchanges a few months ago, one of the things i
said i didn't like about sprints was the goonery.

I don't have a problem with the head butts. Contrary to the statement
from the race director, both riders were both stable and handling
their bikes and themselves well. However, the race official is not an
official and should not have any input on the matter. It shouldn't
have been considered as more than a little 'argy-bargy". Perhaps the
number of injuries in the Tour so far (caused by entirely different
circumstances, of course) has made the officials a little more gun shy
than they would be otherwise.

That said, if Renshaw was going to get penalized for something, it
should have been the way he obviously and blatantly shut the door on
Farrar. But even that shouldn't have merited a removal from the race.
But what penalty would have been suitable? Cav didn't do anything
wrong so you can't relegate his points. Renshaw doesn't care about his
placing or time. Most fines are pittances. Getting DSQ from the race
was too harsh for the infraction.

You deliberately ignore George Hincapie
when he was on Columbia last year.
Remember the chop block on Avenue des Champs-Élysées?

Dumbass -

Agreed.

As for the head butt - why didn't he just elbow flick Dean? It would've been
more subtle and worked better.

thanks,

Kurgan. presented by Gringioni.

These fags are ballet dancers. Sprinting next to Abdoujaparov was
like sharing rabbit with a Tasmanian Devil

being a staunch kiwi supporter, I couldn't agree more.
Far too harsh a penalty; smacks of politics

It's because it was a liverpool kiss. Agree with others that an elbow
or shoulder (which I assume could actually be much more dangerous)
would probably have just got a "tut tut" from the officials

Sunny - more injuries of consequence caused by route selection and
falure to change the routes. It only took me one time riding down one
of those mossy wet forest roads to know they're not to be messed with.

Default I Don't Care What You Say...- Renshaw expelled

Renshaw was wrong w/ the Farrar closeout though. Leadout guys

their work

Yes I had missed that during the race but in replays it's really bad,
he couldn't get away with both these issues.

Yes and while no one mentioned it (Aldag did hint at it), Julian Dean
was clearly going off his line to the left, too bad Renshaw thought it
useful to head-butt him though, as a result he's been expelled !

I should have read this before I replied to old Ghost ********'
posting. *I'm surprised. *That was six of one and half a dozen of the
other. *I could see why they might complain about him crowding out
Farrar as he came off the front, but I thought they were both equally
at fault there. *Dean definitely was trying to push Renhaw towards the
barriers which was why Renshaw retaliated. *OTOH, you could read it
that Renshaw wanted to keep that line and leaning on Dean was an
unfair way of doing it. *Jeez, there have been far worse things
happening in the sprints than that, some really nasty switches in the
last 200 for example.

UD

What is it with you guys. First, you bitch and moan about Cavendish
not getting more reprimanded enough for is run in with Haussler on
stage 10 Tour de Sussie.
Renshaw tries to force feed his helmet to Dean and you say he should
be told to stand in the corner for a while and then continue racing.
This is bicycle racing, not rugby.

It's not just this year.

They were clueless last year too.

These are both correct assessments
