Default FYI: Drop 1/2 lb from your MTB for $10 USD

For weight weenies on a budget:

The *best* place to drop mass from a bike is at the outer edge of the
wheels, since rotating mass has the greatest effect on handling. Light
tires and tubes make a difference.

Performance is having a sale on their 99g "Lunar Light" innertubes: $4.99
ea. Standard fat-tire innertubes are around 195-210g. So, for $10 USD, you
can drop ~200 grams (nearly 1/2 pound) of rotating mass off your bike,
without [significantly] affecting its reliability. You might have to air up
the tires more often - or maybe not.

Yes, yes, yes.... the key is rotating mass, having to accelerate your heavy
wheels around takes considerably more energy.

Then we need more re-configured 4D products to deal with those nasty thorns : )

how much weight would i lose if i simply force myself to urinate before
every ride.... hmmm water is 1gram/mL so the equivalent of 200 g is less
than a cup of urine... hmmm ... spend ten dollars or urinate.... hmmmm

all done in jest... we all know rotating mass holds the most potential for
feeling the weight lost from the bike.

Just because *you* know, doesn't guarantee that "we all know". If everybody
knew everything about bikes, we'd never need to ask or answer questions.

Going from heavy clunky OEM wheels & tires, to a Mavic/Hugi setup on my last
bike made a world of difference. Money well spent, I think.
