Ridiculous letter from a car driver who can describe "invisible cyclists" in
such minute detail.

Only a blinkered fool would describe that letter as "ridiculous"

Only a blinkered motorist would insist that he can't see things unless
they are dayglo and high vis. If you can't see things in your
headlights, you really shouldn't be driving.

It seems to be an element of faith here that a cyclist should never do
anything to help themselves and if a disaster happens then it is
always the other guys fault and never the cyclists.
If you want to bet your life that you'll be seen when in stealth mode
then carry on. Wearing high vis is common sense, there are too many
people driving with poor eyesight for my liking.

where did the letter writer say that she could not see - only that (in
accordance with the highway code and cyclecraft) wearing conspicuous
clothing and using proper lights is advisable.

Is stealth cycling a good idea? Do you do it?

Yes - all the time.

It's not how visible you are that counts, it how visible you think you
are. Hi-vis makes you think you are more visible than you actually are.

Where does the letter say he couldn't see the cyclists? Indeed he
describes them ... The inference is that they might be more easily seen
than they already are, I suspect

Highly ridiculous. If she sees them, what is the problem?
