Default Millar Line Stage 8: Chung Charts, and I'm Famous!

139 David Millar (GBr) Saunier Duval

Today's result was a great disappointment, as I was beginning to believe
the theory that the French riders really were largely clean. But...pas
naturellement!

Maginot Line:
1 Sylvain Calzati (Fra) AG2R-Prevoyance

But the idea of anyone finishing 138 spots ahead of David Millar without
the aid of banned substances is clearly preposterous, and thus we can
dispose with any utility from the Maginot Line today.

On the other hand, the banned substance in question may have been
"motorpacing," if Bob Roll's grumpy comments about the camera bikes are
to be believed.

On the subject of yesterday's interesting TT, Robert sent me the
following Chung Charts with a note that he's having connection problems.
I have taken that as an invitation to post these to my blog with an
explanation:

http://wiredcola.com/2006/07/chung-c...ne-and-me.html

The three charts detail the ITT first and last segment splits, and one
shows the Millar Line for that stage.

Also, the Millar Line got a mention in the TdFblog:

And while I'm at it, my friend has set up a flickr group devoted to the
2006 TdF:

Share & Enjoy,

I like this chart from Kraig Willett

(from http://biketechreview.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=818 )
or how to combine weight and ITT Chung Charts into one.

Chung left out Zberg as an anomaly? Good.

But what does that chart tell you?

I interpret it as saying heavy guys are not very good at TTs, light guys
are not very good at TTs, and guys in the middle of the weight bell
curve are good, mediocre, and bad at TTs.

But I do believe in the value of data that demonstrates what is not true,
