Amazing crowd, good racing. Incredible to watch Wiggins dig and get
back on so many times, he has great potential. Contador looked like if
he'd wanted to, he could have finished minutes ahead. Frank didn't
have the legs today, never saw him do anything that hurt Armstrong,
who rode amazingly well for a 38 year-old guy with less than a year of
comeback riding in his legs. Very epic, too bad every day in the Tour
can't be so exciting. Oh, and as usual, incredible work by Saxo on the
bottom slopes, their pace is astonishing. Andy Schleck is also a
fantastic talent, if he could bring his TT up a notch, he'd be a
tremendous threat. And I can't forget the strong performance of
Kloden, who not only got back on but controlled the pace for at least
2 km.

Here's to hoping for zero dope positives from the top 10.

That's a major understatement. He was amazing -- cool as a cucumber --
jigging and mixing. Had he and Contador ridden just for themselves --
they'd probably have finished 5+ mins ahead of the rest.

Dumbass -

If they want to keep with recent tradition, the yellow jersey needs to
flame out (Flandis, Rasmussen).

Anton Berlin - potty mouth, dilettante, tool and ****tard and
bottomfeeder? I think you test positive for 'dope' and you're not
anywhere near top 3 billion in anything.

I mean, not you personally, just what you post.

Thanks.

You call that epic? Ha, ha, ha..

Andy put in like two little attacks near the end, that's it. Nobody else did
anything except play tactics for the GC. Epic were the days when Fignon,
Delgado and Lemond used to fight tooth and nail up Alp d'Huez. I think
Lemond and Fignon was more exciting years ago, or Lemond and Chiappuccia.

The massive amount of fans made the stage seem exciting, but the action
didn't match at all. There was almost nothing exciting about the stage. I
would of at least preferred to see Andy and Alberto go toe to toe, tooth and
nail to the finish instead of Andy babysitting Frank. Tactics often kill
real dramatic bike racing. Nothing epic about this stage, IMO. I think the
Polka Dot KOM rider was somewhat exciting in his bid to catch the leaders,
but other then that, it just seemed like the leaders were just pacing up the
mountain. Where was Lance's attack of the day? Mount Ventoux itself is epic,
but the action today was not. The overall pace up the mountain might of been
quite good, but that doesn't make for exciting bike racing. The wind wasn't
a factor according to Lance. Epic bike racing were the days of
Coppi-Bartali, Merckx, Hinault, Lemond and Fignon, and some shades of that
with Indurain, Pantani and Chiappuccia.

Like I said, I was impressed with the crowds, but not the action so much.

He seems to have won over the French, at least at Annecy there were
teenage French girls who had written "Armstrong" atop their bosom, and
were interviewed on the Pre stage show (they wanted to ask Fignon if
Lance still could win the Tour).

I found the infighting exciting, if for no other reason than you never
know what someone might pull out of their butt with the pace changing
so much. Which, it did, from what I saw and witnessed by Wiggins'
catches, Pellizoti's honoring of the Peaux Rouge and so forth.

Yeah, it might have been fun to see Andy drag-race 'Berto to the top,
but with the time Conquistador had on Schleck, that wasn't going to
happen, and there were other irons in the fire, with the GC leaders
actually disputing the remaining podium and top-five placings.

So maybe not "epic" but interesting and chancy, with Frank Schleck
losing out to Lance Armstrong when it was all over.
This might be seen in years to come as a noteworthy stage.
Good thing they didn't have to cancel due to forest fire or whatever
was going on there g. --D-y

I completely agree with you.
It is not the pace that makes a race intersting, or epic if the case
be, but the action.
Today we have seen very little of that by those who should have
displayed it.

As a side remark, I think Andy should throw away his hearphone and
get, instead, a camera to monitor and chack on his beloved brother,
instead of risking a sore neck for turning backwards so often,
