Default Why do I bother?

After days of looking through books and on Google about how to clean a bike
properly with degreasers and water repellants and stuff, I went out on
Saturday, bought all the bits and pieces, then spent most of yesterday
slaving away. Got it all nice and sparkly, I'd even forgotten the chain was
meant to be silver....

What happened today? It rained. Lots. Hasn't rained for a few days either,
so lots of filth on the road. Now there's lots of filth on my sparkly clean
bike. And it didn't just rain, it monsooned, and hailstoned too, and for
the first time ever I thought "sod this" and ran for shelter.

The bike's in the LBS (I'm getting the hang of this) for a 6-month service
after my list of little problems was growing, so hopefully, this time
tomorrow it'll just be a case of riding it without wondering what that odd
noise is, or should that happen or shouldn't it, hopefully...

I'm afraid that's one of the unwritten laws of cycling, along with the
puncture when you've forgotten the pump and the bottle of wine with no corkscrew.

snap!

I got rained on today and my nice clean bike is now filthy. At least it
wasn't too cold.

Note to self.. Ergo brake levers are really slippery when wet. Remember
this next time you're doing 40mph downhill.

I presume only a soiled pair of bibshorts.

Nope, but I'd better go and wash those shorts

There's nothing like a downpour to bring out the worrying squeaks an
rattles in a bike. I was out on Sunday and the same thing happened. Fo
the last 3 miles home I was wondering why my pedal had started squeakin
every third revolution... I am still wondering so I'm gonna take it t
bits in the garage and see if there's any grease left in it

As for soiling your bibshorts... too much detail :eek
