A disgraceful incident. Some cyclists can't restrain their violent hatred

Now Jeremy Vine wades in on Bar Vini row after owner 'threatens to smash cyclist's head in'

BROADCASTER Jeremy Vine has waded into a bike lane row that saw a restaurant owner filmed saying he would "smash a cyclist's head in".

We told today how Bar Vini owner Adriano Matteoni was filmed telling cycling Thomas Cornwallis "Not today pal, I'll smash your f****** head in."

Thomas, who is co-convenor of cycle advocacy group GoBike, had stopped to speak to Adriano after seeing his car parked in the South City Way cycle route.

Sloppy reporting by the looks of it. No one actually said what was quoted:
"smash a cyclist's head in".

There is a video of the assailant saying just that to the cyclist here.

Perhaps you and the journalist should review the use of quotation marks.

The phrase "smash a cyclist's head in" is not spoken in the video.

What's said is "I'll smash your ****ing head in".

The journalist fabricated the first quotation.

What's more, it was an altercation between individuals, not a traffic
incident. It looks as though someone believed that traders have no right
to have stock delivered.

Speaking in the third, rather than the second, person?

I stand corrected.
Sounds a nice chap.
