Pls help with Top Ten list (fall cycling)
Hi folks--
I'm now the editor for my club newsletter, and I need to finish this Top Ten List of good things about autumn cycling. (It rained all day Saturday, and was cold and windy Sunday. Incentives seem appropriate.) 10. No bugs! 9. No sweat dripping down your sides, back, legs... 8. Roadkill doesn't reek 7. Fewer cyclists out there = more respect from motorists. 6. Siren song of the ice cream parlour considerably diminished. 5. Fallen leaves fill up the potholes, less likely to wreck your wheel. 4. Less likely to get road rash while wearing arm and leg warmers. [this from a guy who crashes a lot] 3. Work off a few extra calories from the added wind resistance of fall clothing. Two more! C'mon!!! --Karen M. Rapid Wheelmen, GR, Mich |

Less heat, hence, can ride farther. .. need to carry & drink considerably less water with far fewer pee stops. .. traffic gives more distance at night with lights. .. way better comaraderie with existing cyclists. .. water comes right out of the sky. need fenders. (a boise thing). the change is fun for a while. one other big downside .. can't go into the mountains anymore. -- david reuteler |

Finally get to use stylish amber and vermillion (?) lenses in expensive sunglasses. Skin fairly clean due to fabric covering most of it (mountain biking especially). Good excuse to sleep in and start late morning! Bill "and finally, healthy glow on cheeks versus sunburn" S. |

Rapid Wheelmen, GR, Mich - Mud pack srub beauty face treatment comes free with riding after heavy rainfall - Coffee & Cookie taste much better when returning back at the ranch all cold and wet - Amount of people walking where mountainbikers want to ride their bikes reduces when a) rainfall increases and b) temperatures drop - The 'in laws' will not be wanting to hug and kiss you upon your return to home, since you'll have developed a significant autumn smell during the ride Bert -- Posted by news://news.nb.nu |

7. Fewer cyclists out there = more respect from motorists.
If the weather's bad enough, fewer cars too. I've been on Skyline (Highway 35) during the worst rain & windstorms, and it's literally been so bad that the cars stayed away. Obviously, in Northern California, this doesn't happen very often. --Mike Jacoubowsky Chain Reaction Bicycles www.ChainReaction.com IMBA, BikesBelong, NBDA member "Karen M." wrote in message om... Wrong way cyclists have hung up their Huffies. Snot rocket season has returned. SPF 0 is sufficient sunscreen. One water bottle is now enough. Hot chocolate: rest stop drink of champions. |
