Checking Amazon, I saw no direct reference to Benjo's cycling book, but plenty of references to him in sociology texts. There was this: http://tinyurl.com/4xmtr referencing our esteemed "Dutch sociologist and historian of cycling". There is also this: http://tinyurl.com/7x5kz which contains this tidbit: Excerpt from page 783 "... use has greatly diminished . Among keyed instruments is the benjo (CD track 28), a zither about 90 to 98 centimeters ..." I am absolutely awe-struck!! Steve |

Do you mean a general history of cycling? I know four of them, but all in French. Two books of Pierre Chany (La fabuleuse histoire du cyclisme & La fabuleuse histoire des grandes classiques et des championnats du monde), one of Jean Durry (La vérédique histoire des géants de la route) and one of Jacques Augendre, Roger Bastide and others (Histoire du cyclisme). I also wrote a general history of cycling. It is in Dutch but on this very moment it is being translated in English. But I don't pretend it's indispensible :-) Benjo Maso |

I remeber during my last visit to France (sadly it was way back in 1987) picking up a copy of one installment of a cycling history with a name very much like "La fabuleuse histoire du cyclisme". My French is basic at best, but it looked terrific. The series was coming out as a periodical magazine, and I would have subscribed if I had known how to at the time. Steve |

You must be cycling's answer to Albert Camus. Come to think of it, I sometimes feel like Sisyphus when I having a bad day at a hilly race. |
