The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on Thursday 28 December to a forestry plantation near the township of Tokoroa, where a male had fallen from his mountain bike sustaining a suspected back injury.

Prior to the rescue helicopter arriving the man was attended to by St Johns' paramedics. On arrival, the rescue helicopter utilised the NZCT Rescue Winch to insert an Intensive Care Paramedic to the scene. The man was stablised and then winch from the scene before being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
