Default Couple Biking from Key West Florida to Maine/Canada Border

Not your typical bicycle touring couple, Faith and Peter Vicinanza are
challenging the East Coast Greenway fro Key West to Canada.

In their words: "A middle-aged, middle-class couple drop out of their
ordinary lives. Disheartened with the state of America, tethered by
expectations, by self-prescribed accountabilities, by middle-class
obligations, by children and grandchildren, limited by aging bodies and
aging spirits, we leave the safety and predictability of our lives
behind. This leap into the unknown encompasses a 2600 mile bike trip,
a radical reassessment of our professional and personal lives, a memoir
or two, and a committment that we, as a 65 year old man and a 51 year
old woman, will create something unpredictable for the future.

We will test our limits as human begins and artists (Peter is a
photographer, and Faith is a poet and writer), and test the limits of
the world. Part of this testing of limits will engage us in a
self-contained, unsupported bike ride that will cover 2600 miles of the
East Coast from the tip of Key West to ten miles inside the Canadian
border at the tip of Maine. What creative spirit doesn't long for the
ultimate intense experience, and for the challenge of turning that
experience into art? What human being doesn't look at art and for a
brief moment step outside themselves whether they are inspired by what
they see or hear or feel, or are disturbed by it? What person among us
doesn't think the grass is greener elsewhere (okay, some people are
quite happy with their lives, and we are truly glad for them)? What
middle-aged person or couple thinks they have been doing the same thing
for far too long and need a radical readjustment?"

stories, at their "The Utter Folly Tour" blog.

Perhaps you can buy their house in Conneticut to make this possible?
They do have a house sitter.

Since the couple is " Disheartened with the state of America",
perhaps they should not stop at the Canadian border, but instead
experience the joys of Canadian socialism, where abundant health care
goods and services are free for the asking.

Cordially,
Ken (NY)

WTF?!?! Who the hell is this guy, Ken, who thinks he so cordial?

Someone posts a moving description of the choice this couple have made to
challenge themselves physically and emotionally by embarking on this huge
ride and your response is to spout lies and snarky remarks about Canada?

I think someone else could use a radical readjustment.

That's really sad,

Paul

It's my opinion that if someone is disheartened with America
and heads in the direction of Canada, I should have the right to
advise him to keep going. Free speech, you know. That is what usenet
is all about.

Cordially,
Ken (NY)

If that's all you saw in the original article, I pity you.
