Default IDing a Late 80s Klein Frame

I am wondering about a Klein frame I inherited. It has serial number PE045 on the rear dropout. I'm told it was purchased around 1989 and probably in 1988 or 1989.

I've done some googling and from the wikipedia entry, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klein_Bikes, and linked catalog, http://www.vintage-trek.com/Trek-Fis.../1989klein.pdf, it looks as if it is probably a Performance or Performance Elite.

Thanks.

I have no idea but some of these links indicate you are not
alone in your quest.

This link confirms with GK Himself that some serial
sequences were in hexadecimal.
