Default Pulling Over Errant Drivers while on a Bicycle

This morning, at about 7:30 a.m., I was cycling to my Toastmaster's Club
meeting which is held at a church across the street from the local high
school. School starts at 7:30 so there is always a lot of traffic. One
driver did not stop at a crosswalk which had students already in the
crosswalk.

I rode up next to him and pointed at him, hoping he would roll down his
window so I could yell at him.

What I didn't realize is what I looked like. A blue helmet. A row of
flashing LED lights on the handle bars, and flashing red light on the
back. He thought that I was a bicycle cop and he pulled over, expecting
a ticket. I was late so I rode on to my meeting. I wonder what he was
thinking

He was probably considering the merits of calling the police to
complain about a cyclist impersonating an officer.

AE6KS

Weller called.....

had one yesterday while Prince died...not unusual.

went down to Naples then back.

coming onto the westbound GP course leg past the HQ/Wal/HD...a 3 car Shareef's convoy came up to the main from HQ.

After speaking with a bird buddy at Wal back out onto Six Mile Cypress/US 41 n a geriatric peloton crossed in front of me in on the wrong intersections side...you have these things when they know.

hohum....

down to the last left under the beach road overpass

https://goo.gl/nGxWdu

the light was greenon the last left before the Casino but I slowed n waited one complete cycle

then crept forward

and there I the shadow going 10 mph was a tin can filled with 10 stoned beachers waving at me !!!!!! divinity deleted

running the light, in the wrong lane, now turning...having survived ...across 6 lanes of oncoming traffic to the beach road.

that blind corner is frequently taken in a 40 mph slide in a drive to beat the next 2 lights.

adios !

Now that I have a child-unit going to college in southern California
I've been driving down there every few months. I try to stop in Van Nuys
at All Electronics, a store I've been ordering from for decades

Last time I picked up one of these:
http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/es-903/loud-mini-siren-12-vdc/1.html
for $10 (their in-store prices are lower) but I have not done anything
with it yet. I need a small 12V battery for it.

My set-up: http://tesladownunder.com/LEDBIKE1stLightonBike.jpg BTW, I had a Sunbeam Toastmaster, but no club.

I will probably run my flasher this morning because its gale force winds and torrential rain. Or I'll just drive. After an extended period of dry weather, its so hard getting on the bike knowing that I will be soaked in about 30 seconds -- notwithstanding first-class rain gear.

But no siren? You're not safe enough, Jay!

:-) There are clubs for everything, I guess! And yes, there really are
guys (and maybe even girls?) who collect toasters.

You can't do better than a Toastmaster 1B14, I'm told. I wonder if
Scharf has one?

Aren't sirens illegal in many areas?

Cheers

Yep. But if just _one_ Scharf can be saved...

I hope not:

I was planning to attach one on the front fender of my street machine.

Incidentally, ever take a close look at the Starbucks Coffee logo?
It's a siren:
