No, that would be the Jonah Goldberg from "National Review", Bill Buckley's rag until he became too reasonable for the New Right. (oops, politics, sorry) Bob Just another nice basic flake. The problem is with the posts coming from Google Groups. But you can see what happens when I don't supply quotation marks of my own. I will do so from now on or else just write 'Edward Dolan wrote:'. All that matters is that my words not be confused with anyone else's, not the hierarchy. However, if I get messed up posts from other sources than Google Groups, then and only then will I think about going to Mozilla Thunderbird. Simon- You preach, yet you are a moral deginerate! Why don't you be good Englishman and at least change your offending sig? Mr. Sherman, I beg to differ. Hitler ran his campaign on the National Socialist Party, better known as the NAZI party. Please familiarize yourself with the concept of false advertising. The National Socialist German Workers Party was funded by rich industrialists such as Fritz Thyssen [1]. Hitler had the socialist elements of the SA purged (i.e. murdered), suppressed the trade unions and crushed workers rights. Lenin and Stalin were both communist, the purest form of socialism. Oh, male bovine excrement. The only thing communist about the USSR was the name. One group of oligarchs was replaced with another. Ironic that people are murdered when they give their freedoms away to socialism. BTW- I don't give a rats butt if Hitler was a "Fascist", he ran as a socialist and betrayed the foolish people that elected him. However, I digress. Recumbents are cool!!!! Please stop listening to right-wing pundits who lie about history, or whatever source of misinformation you are using. Leave it to Tom Sherman to make excuses for mass murderers. They all came out of left wing (progressive) ideologies. But the only way they were able to rule was by murdering everyone with whom they disagreed. Mr. Sherman needs to read the history of the French Revolution to get an idea of how these progressive ideologies work out in practice. Even the English were not able to altogether escape the madness (Oliver Cromwell). It is not easy to be a liberal after the events of the 20th century. Auschwitz anyone? (oops, politics, sorry) I enjoyed Bill Buckley in the good old days, but he is passé now. I think what happens is that new technologies render all ideologies irrelevant eventually. The advent of nuclear weapons and their proliferation puts a whole new perspective on everything. So does global warming (if true) and the increasing global economy. No ideology lasts forever. The New Right is more correct now than the Old Right. What is really pathetic though is the plight of liberalism. The welfare state (European style) is OK, but you do not want to ever take it much further than that. After all, there is still human nature to contend with and that never changes!
