For your reference, records indicate that

Increasing visibility for anything on the road that is not a car is
a constant problem. Lights help some. A high-contrast shirt or helmet
helps some. The position in the lane is a factor. The speed is a
factor. Just basic inattention is probably the factor that dwarfs
everything else.

On my morning ride this morning I had to cross a 4 lane highway and at
06:00 (just after daybreak) on-coming cars with their lights on were
much more noticeable. :-)
