ROTFL.

TV presenter **** has lost money after publishing his bank details in his newspaper column.

The **** revealed his account numbers after rubbishing the furore over the loss of 25 million people's personal details on two computer discs.

He wanted to prove the story was a fuss about nothing.

But the complete **** admitted he was "wrong" after he discovered a reader had used the details to create a £500 direct debit to the charity Diabetes UK.

Note: bad language replaced with **** for those of a sensitive disposition.

Sometimes, a thing hasppens in life that makes a body thingk, yes, there is
a god after all. The only thing that would have topped that is if the money
had been made payable to the Cyclists' Defence Fund ;-)

Best laugh I've had in ages!

Ah, but he hadn't actually given any more information than you would by
sending a cheque to a mail order company. Although JEREMY CLARKSON
didn't make the smartest move, his bank are really at fault for not
checking up the Direct Debit application properly.

I like the way this is in the entertainment section though - it
certainly entertained me!

You failed to answer my question in the other thread, but apparently, you do
have a sense of humour. You find it humerous that a particular journalist
is the victim of a crime.

Regards,
Lily.

But that has slightly fewer people seeing those details than may read a
newpaper column - particularly if said journalist was basically saying it
was not possible. He was challenging someone to do this.

I would tend to agree with that - but banks are quite lax when it comes to
thse things.

I'll answer it then.

There's no excuse for littering. However the littering Mr Parris was
complaining about almost certainly wasn't due to cyclists, contrary to what
he claimed.

(which makes what he wrote even more disgraceful...)

I personally do not find it particularly "funny" but it does have an element
that makes me smile when someone who writes in a newspaper basically
challenges people like this and then is suprised when they are "stung".

It proves that he was niave to think that nobody would try it and that his
bank would not allow it to happen.

The thing that makes it a little humerous is that he made a big thing out of
it then is found to be wrong.

The good thing is that he admitted he was wrong again by reporting on it.

I'm afraid you're slightly wrong there. We find it HumOrous that a
particular opinionated knowall who is hostile to us has been hoist with his
own petard as the result of his own challenge to potential criminals. It
proves that he is as well-informed on the subject of data security as he is
on the subject of the use of roads (not very).

As to the degree of criminality of the person who gave some of Clarkson's
money to charity, it could well be argued that they have performed a public
service in disabusing those gullible souls who may have believed clarkson
when he said that identity theft was not a threat to them. I doubt very much
that he will be asking for his money back ;-)
