Seatpost setback
OK, I'm trying to start a bit of an ad hoc database on seatpost (without wading through catalogues (usually uninformative)and talkin to sales staff (ditto, sometimes) that can get all you tall guys wit long femurs (you know who you are) in the right possie on 74 deg seat-tube bikes (I don't want to reignite the KOPS debate, but humou me, please?). Ergo, what's your favourite/most horrific experience wit LONG setback seatposts (20mm+ horizontal behind seat-tube centreline) any diameter, any length, any clamp style (beyond pressed steel/swage tube)? Thanks in advance. I'll try and think of a suitable recompense fo people not motivated by sheer desire to share their experiences for th good of cyclingkind. A week in the Bahamas? A copy of the Suntou programme from 1967? Hmm. M "more 72/72 frames please" -- mfhor |

Seatpost setback
"mfhor"
OK, I'm trying to start a bit of an ad hoc database on seatposts (without wading through catalogues (usually uninformative)and talking to sales staff (ditto, sometimes) that can get all you tall guys with long femurs (you know who you are) in the right possie on 74 deg. seat-tube bikes (I don't want to reignite the KOPS debate, but humour me, please?). Ergo, what's your favourite/most horrific experience with LONG setback seatposts (20mm+ horizontal behind seat-tube centreline), any diameter, any length, any clamp style (beyond pressed steel/swaged tube)? I'm 5'10" (not tall) but the seat-tube angle on the Pug is fairly steep so I run a set-back post. I think it's 75deg but I could never find the manufacturer's geometry specs for this frame to verify. What details do you need? All I can remember is that it's an American Classic alu post (black). It's maybe 40mm from centre of the post to the rear of the set-back clamp. Not sure of the diam. but could check (prob 27.2). Clamp style: Two allen bolts, one locks fore/aft, one is for the vertical angle I think. Harder to explain than adjust! ;-) Thanks in advance. I'll try and think of a suitable recompense for people not motivated by sheer desire to share their experiences for the good of cyclingkind. A week in the Bahamas? A copy of the Suntour programme from 1967? Hmm. M "more 72/72 frames please" H This is for tall riders with long legs, right? I need a more accurate measure of seat-tube angle than me + protractor! This has some interesting snippets: http://www.cptips.com/bkefit.htm hippy "Does this get me a day in the Bahamas?" |
