Campagnolo Sprockets
I've worn out the 19 tooth cog on my Campy Record 10-speed steel /
titanium sprocket set. The 19 - 21 pre-assembled pair is titanium. Is it reasonable to replace just this pair of cogs, rather than spend $200+ on a complete sprocket set? Does anyone know what the pair of cogs should cost? I looked at Campy documentation, and I believe the part number is 10S-91CT. Or, could I go for the Chorus (steel) pair - part number 10S-91C? Would this give me better longevity? Should I just buy an entire new Chorus sprocket set, and suffer the huge weight increase? |

Weight Weenies indicates that a Chorus 10spd cassette should be somewhere around 220 g, while your Record cassette has a mass around 140 g. So I ask you, is 80 g, or roughly 80 mL of water in your bottle (or your body) a "huge weight increase"? -- Paul M. Hobson ..:change the f to ph to reply:. |

The titanium 19-21 Record cluster will cost you $166. http://harriscyclery.net/page.cfm?Pa...id=3732&type=T http://harriscyclery.net/page.cfm?Pa...ils&sku=FW7618 http://harriscyclery.net/page.cfm?Pa...ils&sku=FW9712 |

The only difference between Record and Chorus casettes are the use of titanium spockets. Should I just buy an entire new Chorus sprocket set, and suffer the huge weight increase? i would (actually i do), my next cassette will be Centuar due the the even lower cost. Chorus and Centaur spcocket are identical, only the fitting and a tiny weight difference differs. -- mvh. All single cogs, no carriers. 2009 Veloce is old Mirage - galvanized, not whatever- plated. |

I switched from Vittoria Rubino (310 g) to Rubino Pro (230 g) tires, which is supposed to save me 80 g per tire, so I guess I can afford the heavier cogs, especially at the $100+ savings mentioned below! Interesting that the Chorus part weighs about 50% more than the Record. |

It is a consumable after all and the 'huge weight savings is about 40 grams..on your 88,000 or so gram rider and bike package. |
