Default Ride of Silence - May 18

On May 18 there will be a "Ride of Silence" in Melbourne at 7pm startin
at Black Rock to Mordialloc and then back to Cafe Racer. Why no
organise one where you are, with your friends or club/BUG? I
Melbourne, contact: rooman[AT]myaccess[DOT]com.au for more info.

Mo
".....The protocol is two abreast, no talking, just handsignals, n
passing, slow pace max 20kph, wear black armbands, advise media, tel
police, get expressions of support...."

To HONOR those who have been injured or killed

To RAISE AWARENESS that we are here

To ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD

As the ride is at night, please bring lights etc.

The Ride of Silence is also held in 50 cities in the USA on the sam
day.

I hate to point out the obvious, but in Melbourne, on the 18th of
May at 7pm it will be dark. Hand signals (and black armbands)
therefore will be difficult to see. Maybe this is happening in
the northern hemisphere where it's probably light,
but here, no drivers of cars will see anything more than
a bunch of blinking taillights, just like every other
bunch ride along Beach Rd, except that being 7pm,
there'll be less cars on the road to notice it.

There are better ways to promote road sharing than a
dangerous bunch ride at night.

Peak hour on beach rd is 5-6:30ish. By 7 it's mostly over.

Of course not, but as a protest ride, I suspect it will
leave those affected by it in the dark.
