Default How long do race wheels last?

On 2005-09-22 21:19:29 -0700, "Mike" said:

I have just purchased a set of Mavic SL race wheels.

I am reasonable new to the sport and wondered why most people only get
their good wheels out to race. I do realise that the reason for this is
to increase the life of the wheel.

I am interested to know how many km are a good wheelset supposed to last???

Thanks

Ksyrium SLs? Those aren't "ultra-light, ultra-fragile" wheels. Used
as race only, they'll probably meet their demise via crash before some
other method. If you're reasonably new to races, the odds are you will
be in a pile up at some point.
