You can try one of the Polar wireless units. Depending on the size of
your frame, you might run into issues with the distance between the
sender and the head unit.

Polar cs600 with W.I.N.D speed sensor works from rear wheel (my friend
own one and use speed sensor on the rear ), others like cs400 ( I own
one ) that doesn't use W.I.N.D don't work

I hve not used any with recording and HRM, but if you buy a wireless,
especially to use from the bars to the rear wheel, make sure you get
it somewhere you can return it. I went through 3 wireless units
intended for rear wheel use before giving up and going wired. The one
I'm using now shares a wire for cadence & speed, since the crank
passes over the chain stay near the wheel. All of the wireless models
I used picked up interference that rendered average speed and total
distance traveled, the 2 #'s I care most about, useless. They get the
right info 99% of the time but that other 1% throws averages and
totals way off. Speaking of which, anyone want a killer deal on a
Mavic WinTech FS? Only used for one ride, still has original
packaging and even original zip-ties unopened.

PowerTap 2.4 Wireless head unit with a speed sensor for the rear wheel
will record speed and HR data. $200 for the head unit and $50 for the
sending unit.

The Polar units I have owed (CS200 latest) are not strong enough to
use the sensor in the rear position.

Not intended to be at Brian per say, but general information.

Wireless computers are generally a bad idea. They cost more, use more
batteries (which also makes them cost more), are finiky at best. Wired
computers are far more reliable, cost less, and easier to work with.

This is interesting idea - I did not know they were making
PowerTap unit without power sensor. It is called "Cervo" on
the website and has list price $369:

I would have to disagree with that. With the exception of its wimpy
mounting system (which I fixed), the Polar has worked well. They had a
problem with finicky cadence sensors a while back, but that seems to be
resolved and they covered the defective ones under warranty. I have yet
to replace a battery in any of the sensors on two bikes after 3 years of
use and I've replaced the one in the head unit only once. For the
convenience of not having to string wires all over the place, it's worth
the extra cost to me.

FWIW, I had more problems with balky connections and low battery life
with wired computers.

Might as well get an iBike... then you can have power data as well as
a host of other interesting info. It will cost ~$550 for the wireless
model.

You are the only person I have ever spoken to who has had such a run
of luck with a wireless computer, and this includes 16 years of
working in bike shops. The wire has never bothered me, but I
understand the logic. I've always just started at the wheel, and
worked my way to the bar and wrapped the slack up at the housing.
