Just wondering, How much of a difference does it make, smoother ride?
Compared to a 26" wheeled bike, do you find yourself shifting to easier
gears? I ride XC and some road, always been curious.

Singlespeed - No gears and don't need 'em!

I find it feels just as nice as my full suspension on my local trails.
Of course, that may be different elsewhere. It's also way easier for
the logovers we have here. Just rolls right over them.

Gag. It's sad that the bicycle industry is in such a depression that
they have to grasp at straws to try to resurrect it.

Don't own one or feel I need one, though I don't have a big issue with
it. Makes a lot more sense than bikes designed only to go downhill.
