You are forgetting something, the overall costs of mass car use and
the fact that we don't need to get rid of all of them. A good first
step would be to halve car use which would then halve all the problems
it causes.

How would you go about doing that, please give us your master plan.

Several ways. Firstly, stop trying to make motoring look so attractive
when it is not, particularly in adverts and the motoring press.
Secondly, make cars carry a prominent health warning similar to
cigarettes. Thirdly, introduce road pricing more widely to make
motoring less competitive with public transport and more dependent on
distance traveled.
Fifthly, provide fewer car parking spaces, particularly the free 24/7
street garaging of cars.
Sixthly, make driving tests and medical tests more difficult and
renewable yearly.

That should about do it.

Why would they need to display a health warning and cyclists don't
street garage their bikes 24/7? As cyclists do not generally cause
pollution or congestion it would obviously not apply to them.

I have not noticed any cars that are left on the street for 24 hours a
day seven days a week.

Anecdotal. There are a few in my street which haven't been moved for
days and gather dust. Then, of course there are those that are only
used at weekends for gallivanting around and doing the bulk shopping
and are 24/5. Most are street garaged all night anyway, say 8/7 at
least?

So you were not very truthful in your post, so no change there then.

I wish more people would cycle, especially in towns where they can easily commute into work. I usually cycle in at about 745 am and its lovely, plenty of cyclists about but hardly any cars.
And it really relaxes you after a hard day in the office, there would be less arguments on weekday evenings if more people cycled I swear!
