I was talking to someone about riding when a woman came up and overheard
us.
She said that she was excited about getting a new bike because the last
one
she had was when she was about 9 years old. Then, she said in a
breathless
voice "Do you know how expensive bikes are these days!" and before I could
open my mouth, she went on with "Why, my old Schwinn didn't cost even $50
and now they want at least $300 to get a bicycle at a bike shop!"

So far, so good. I mean, I've heard this before. Then, she said, "I think
I'll just get one at Wal-Mart and see if I like it--then I could get a
better one later on if I do." And she went on to ask me if she should get
a
"girl's bike" or a "boy's bike" because that is all the bike shops seem to
have these days---boys' bikes and she didn't understand why.

I was envisioning this woman buying one of those 50 # slugs at Wal-Mart
and
not riding after the first two or three tries because it would be just too
much effort. I started off with telling her about the weight of the
Wal-Mart
bike and the lack of quality of the components, but her eyes glazed over.

So, my question is: just what DO you tell someone like this?

Tell her that Walmart has a bicycle called "The White Trash". It is a
beauty.

It weighs 800lbs, has a big bell and a light. Point out that she might want
to get a big seat since her ass is going to be enlarging as she rides.

This is what liberals always say. "Don't tax you, don't tax me, tax
that man behind the tree." Then when you challenge them to name one
person who has "too much money" and should be paying higher taxes, they
can't name one. All they know is, they want someone else to pay for
their health care because they want to spend their money on a new car
or bicycle instead.

Which liberals always say that? By the way, who pays for your health
care? My guess is that you have some kind of health insurance. Most
people that I know, are concerned about health care, because they
CAN"T AFFORD IT! The people most in need of paid health care, aren't
buying new cars. There are exceptions to all these things, but to
generalize that it is about new cars, is just silly.

As far as the people who should pay more taxes, you could start with
the Bush family and go from there. Anyone who is making paying less
than there fair share due to loopholes and anyone who is making more
than $200,000. As far as individual names, I don't have a rich guy
directory.

Some Americans may "have too d*mn much money anyhow--", but many have
too damned little. Seeing as you didn't quote the post that you were
replying to, I'm not sure what prompted the above reply. You really
should learn to quote.

For the most part -

How about, when you disagree with somebody, call him something else besides
"liberal"? By doing the Republican-standard name calling, you only show
yourself to be incapable of thinking further than knee-jerk labels.
Remember, George W was elected on his promise to "be a uniter, not a
divider".

Why do you consider "liberal" a derogatory term?

Anyway, one of the biggest "conservative" (another name-call?) beefs with
Bush is that he DOESN'T answer his detractors often enough; "criticize the
critics" so to speak. Would it be more divisive if he did? Not so sure.

Of course "conservatives" want their corn, their cotton, their sugar,
their casinos, their war in Iraq subsidized...

And in the meantime, the Indians are looking for a reason to celebrate
Columbus Day tomorrow.

Which is a really verbose way of calling him a name, isn't it?

Not to mention he ASSUMED the person he's addressing is a Rebublican.
(Unless that's the name you meant LOL)

I don't consider it a derogatory term, but it is clear that this
administration is doing its darndest to make the majority of American people
think of it as a derogatory term.

Is that a "conservative" position? I am not sure. Or maybe it is just a
critical position and being liberal or conservative has nothing to do with
it.
