Hopefully they'll take themselves out via a tree next time.

the police don't have an accurate description of the vehicle and only a
partial identification of the number plate. So if anyone here saw the crash
and has any detail please contact crimestoppers as soon as possible so this
madman can be arrested before he kills someone.

Is this like "A shooting star is the death of a planet"
That was my level 1 physics teachers opening line from his opening lesson
for HSC Physics. After the lesson, I walked out the door and changed to
Bio I.

hopefully one day people will take seriously my suggestion that punishment for
this sort of thing be a minimum of one year no-choice "volunteer" labour for
an international aid agency in somewhere like Palestine, Zimbabwe, Sudan or
Bangladesh.

Repeat offences to indicate that they do not belong within our society but can
then assist its goals by remaining permanently attached as a volunteer.

Maybe after the first year of exposure to this they'll figure out why the rest
of us love our home, and what it is that our society values. Hopefully they'll
meet some 'non-christian' types there who will hammer home a few points on
(in)tolerance to them too.

That's a bit harsh.
What did the people of those countries do to deserve such abuse?

Such offenders deserve to be treated as the unfortunate sufferers of
mental illness, who, having attempted murder while due to their mental
disability, should be confined for their own safety for the remainder of
their lives.

And they should have their licences cancelled permanently. It's time we
took the attitude that having a licence is not a basic human right.

I'm sure there are plenty of 'christian' types who could give them a run
for their money.

good point ... I hadn't thought of the suffering of the fellow aid workers
either.

well, that was a given premise ... should have mentioned that. Still, then
they'll drive with no licence. I have an aquaintance who's wife was nearly
killed by a fellow driving at 0.12 on an already cancelled licence.

no insureances either so the victims suffer more.

sure ... but you know, if you ever work over in Saudi I'm sure you'll get a
better perspective of what I mean. Don't have a car accident without cash to
pay your debt on the spot (with a sliding scale of liablity depending on who
it is you hit). It is a different society to ours.
