pedicab/cargo-bike to make a living in North America?
wrote in message oups.com... anyone in North America earns their living with a pedicab or cargo-bike? I haven't heard of anyone trying this in North America, but I would think it would be possible in traffic congested areas such as NYC or Boston or other large metro areas, as long as the passenger was not traveling too far. Ken A few years ago I knew of a small village with a fair number of boating tourists and a local entrepreneur had a couple of pedicabs in operation for 2 summers but I don't think it was a success. They're gone now John Kane Kingston ON |

pedicab/cargo-bike to make a living in North America?
" wrote in message oups.com... wrote: anyone in North America earns their living with a pedicab or cargo-bike? 20 years ago when I was in college I worked for a while giving pedicab rides here in San Diego, at Balboa Park (great way to meet women). You could say I made a living but I didn't have many expenses back then. The owner of the business seemed to do well. Pedicabs are still all around the tourist areas in downtown San Diego so there must be some profit in it. A group in San Francisco provides "personal services" as well as a ride to males. |

This link belongs to someone who makes a living hauling cargo and building cargo bikes & trailers, I don't know which side of the business is his main support: http://www.bikesatwork.com/ Bikes and drays are pretty much the only transport on Macinac Island, Michigan, but most of the bikes are rentals, most all of the work is done by horses. |

Sounds like a real innovative type service, no pun intended! Ken |

Ask Pedalers Express in Eugene, Oregon: http://members.efn.org/~cat/pedex/index.htm I think there's a similar business in Portland, but I couldn't find them on the web. I've definitely seen their cargo bike in downtown, though. Jeff |
