Shifted shifter
I had a Shimano 8s STI shifter in on consignment and some turkey
clicked it over so that I can no longer see the cable entry point (on the drum) and can't see how to pull it back to insert the cable. Can anyone out there who knows shimano stuff help me, or is it toast? PS it worked fine prior to that. |

Then, when you pull back the brake lever, you should see the entry point. You have to get it back to the highest gear position. Art Harris |

Using the professional mechanic's favorite tool, a pointy spoke, work it back while pressing the return lever. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

So I am right in assuming that there is no return spring in the shifter and that it uses the derail(er)(eur) spring to return. |

There are so many springs in there I'm hesitant to say but it will need a push to return once it goes past high gear -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |
