Default how do I remove toe clips?

Hi all,
I bought an old mountain bike from a coworker, and I want to remove
the plastic toeclips on each pedal. It looks like a basic pair of
screws on the two long narrow sides of the pedals, except that there
are reflectors sitting on top of the screws, and I can't see how the
reflectors come out. The only way would be if they slid out
horizontally but there is no way to get a grip on them.

For any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Dan

Is there a nut (square or hex) on the inside of the cage?

WASH WITH HOT soap and water, brush then lube with thinned synthetic
oil, Finish Line wax with teflon, PCBlaster (may damage plastics) ...

Hi,
There was nothing anywhere I could see, so I tried ripping one out
(they were affixed only on one side of the pedal) and it came out.
Works for me, I'll just get some cheap reflectors to go back on the
pedal proper on the side they were ripped from. The other reflector
can remain.

Thanks for your help anyways,
Dan

Yeah, the proper way to remove anything is to use some channel-lock
pliers and bend the offending bit back and forth till it snaps off.

Yeah, the proper way to remove anything is to use some channel-lock
pliers and bend the offending bit back and forth till it snaps off.

That is sometimes the best way if the part is flimsy and not worth
saving. I prefer Vise-Grip® pliers for that task, however.

I did once use a large (18-inch) pair of channel locks as a club to
whale on a stuck PVC casing extension - it eventually worked to remove
the offending part.

The first time I did a face plant on a bicycle, I remember nothing of it
but laying on a table in the hospital with a bright light in my face and
the doctor sewing my upper lip back together.
