¤¤¼¶¼g...
Sorry to hear that Tony! Hope it gets back to you in one piece.
What sort of cable lock was it? Did they just cut through it?
Troy.

I wanted to upload the photo of the lock but unfortunately its not possible
anymore. So I'll describe it to you.
Its a combo lock, the wires inside is about 7mm diameter with a plastic
shell over it...

The thief must have cut through it with some cable cutter or something...

cheers,
Tony

Tony,

Have you asked Melbourne Uni security to check the surveillance camera
footage?

My thesis topic is surveillance and I was discussing your situation with my
supervisor (who is an avid cyclist) and he commented that there isn’t a
square inch of campus not covered by a camera – including the new law
school.

Steve.

that really sux dude, i too have had my bike stolen when i stupidly got
a flat tyre and locked my bike up over night assuming it'd be their in
the morning (grrrr....never again). I assume you've made a police report
about it giving them the rego number of your bike (down near the crank
on my bike).

good luck, keep any eye for it, when mine was stolen i swear i saw
somebody riding it around where i live soon after it was stolen, and i
gave them a good hard look (wondering wether i should chase after them)
but i thought to long and didn't act, that was the only time i saw that
person in my area. So if you do see it get ready to run and catch him
cause it may be the only time you'll see him. CArry the rego number and
police report ref number one you so you can back up your claims.

all in all though its a lost cause so good luck

Tony, Have you asked Melbourne Uni security to check the
surveillance camera footage?

My experience with security camera footage (after a friend's 'secure'
apartment was broken into), is the Police will think "Why do we need
to look at it? We already know a crime happened, and there's a million
and one young adult males wearing nylon hooded jackets. Waste of our
time." :/
