My posts of earlier today all came through, but not in the order that
I posted them. Apparently Google first scrutinizes "God" a little
more than "brakes", and " amother ****er" even more.

I love this "place". Sorry for any offense - nothing personal - thank
you, friends; I think maybe I'm gonna be all right (such as it is)
after all.

Absolutely. But there's a difference between censorship and questioning
why someone would use a subject line with racial overtones for no
apparent reason.

How did this subject line add anything that "news from New York"
wouldn't have?

In a recent exchange, pointing out a racist comment, without
emotion, spurred a host of defenses which made the point
better than I could have.

When the Nazis marched in Skokie 30 years ago I said they
shouldn't be merely allowed, they should be required to
expose their views to daylight. I haven't changed my mind on
that either. Bad ideas fall of their own weight IMHO.

Same thing when David Duke was running for office in Louisiana.

I am not sure what ATEMPS is, but outside censorship is to be avoided.

For instance, if someone, whether through malice aforethought or not,
posts something stupid, I would be grievously remiss if I were not to
point out the stupidity. It's a burden, but I accept it.

At the same time, I am happy to live in a society where the powers
that be are not overly heavy-handed in censoring someone's thoughtless
posts, and leave the reprimands to the rank and file, and gear
pressure.

There is a difference between censorship applied from without and self-
censorship. Equating the two is stupid.

I rode my first sub-freezing morning this week. ****! I am becoming
such a wussy! I tell everybody that I ride because I love it, and I
guess I do, but this time of year it's more probably because it feels
so good when I stop (character building exercise).

Friday was first of the seasonally prevailing wind patttern that has
me pushing home into cold headwinds and driving rain (dodged the worst
of the rain, though). Problem is this pattern will hold for several
months now (and the *real* cold is all yet to come), before the sweet,
sweet (but too short) summer pattern that offers shorts and sandals
conditions all day and night, light if any wind in the morning, and
stronger tailwinds on the way home.
