That article called the road barrier an "arnco barrier" - the actual
term is Armco barrier, but it wasn't one of those, either. It was a
DIY concrete pylon with spanning metal pipe barrier. The Armco
barrier is designed to crumple (with a car's impact) and keep the
vehicle from going off the road. The DIY version seemed to be
designed to vault an impacting cyclist (no hemorrhoid jokes, please)
high into the air so the spill would be truly horrific and
