A ride of perfect contemplation
Sunday, I took my 3-speed Metro into the 3rd world LBS (as opposed to the
yuppie LBS) for the complete $15 tune-up. I didn't realize how many little things, none worth getting greasy for individually, were slowing me down. Then Monday, there I was, riding to work, at a blistering pace. Full suit and tie, briefcase, dorky helmet and gloves, in a fully upright position (if i had big ears and was wearing a kilt, I would have looked like Prince Charles riding a horse) and the crown jewel: my new shocking pink breast cancer ribbon. No one on the way up (or down) knew what to make of me, except that I was going way fster than I had any right to be going in that configuration. Felt good. --ag |
