Default Voting in Paradise

Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, where the locals say "Come on vacation,
leave on probation," and "Come to Sault Sainte Marie to get an STD,"
is holding several critical elections on Nov. 04, 2008. One is for
county prosecutor, with widely heralded attorney David Whyte
challenging entrenched (like a tick on a hound dog) incumbent, Brian
Peppler. Unanimously recognized as a rabidly fascist persecutor who
has destroyed more innocent lives than Osama bin Laden, Peppler's
sadistic neuroses have alienated so many of Chippewa County's honest
citizens that his political demise appears to be more lusted after
than a natural straight at the Sault tribe's poker tables. Respected
barrister David Whyte is not at all soft on crime, but he at least
understands the dangers inherent in creating angry, dangerous
criminals from children who need guidance, not irreparable damage to
lives they haven't yet begun to live.
Equally important is the race between sheriff Jeff Moran and
challenger James Parr. Jim Parr and his deputy wife, Jenn, are both
highly trained and educated police officers, and Jim has earned the
rare distinction of being respected and trusted by his peers, as well
as by inmates at the Chippewa County Correctional Facility, where he
served as senior training officer until being forced to step down
because he challenged Moran for office. While some citizens have
questioned the ethics of a sheriff who is also proprietor of a local
towing business, there are few who believe Jim Parr is anything less
than upstanding and honest.
So, if you live in Chippewa County, Michigan, are of age to vote,
and you care about who's running your local government, don't fail to
cast your vote for Jim Parr as Sheriff, and for David Whyte as County
Prosecutor. It's high time the good, neighborly citizens of
Michigan's finest county had a government they could believe in.
