Psst, data, it's spelled "Y'all"...

Don't you mean all-y'all?

Jasper

No, "that would be redundant. "Y'all" (now recognized as a legitimate
word by some dictionarys) is a contraction of the words "you" and
"all".

My native Texan speakers insist that y'all is singular and all-y'all is
plural.

That's true across most of the South. This dialect also has the
peculiarity of a distinct second-person collective possessive form,
"all y'alls"

Since when is "that would be redundant" a valid counterargument in
language, anyway? Especially english..

There are those who claim that there is an Authority in English which
must be Respected. Fortunately, unlike French, there is no formal
coding body with the power to determine the official structure and
acceptable grammar of English, and even those who produce the language
reference books acknowledge (explicitly) that the language and its
usage is fluid and defined by the users. This does not keep both the
well-meaning and the mere pedants from pointing out either actual
misuses or violations of opinion, and sometimes it's hard to tell
which is which.

I do not accept usage by the unread. Those who confuse
affect and effect; use mute for moot; write and speak only
to please themselves. Just as it is not a totalitarian
state, the English language is not a democracy. A writer
needs to be widely accepted as a master of the language
before he becomes an authority. For instance, Jane*Austin.

To imitate the best is no shame; it is worth the attempt.
