The Age: Rex Hunt in court over 'road-rage attack'

Broadcaster Rex Hunt will claim self-defence over allegations he
bashed a cyclist in a road-rage attack.

The 59-year-old appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court this morning
facing four charges including recklessly causing serious injury and
assault.

He is accused of getting out of his four-wheel-drive and attacking the
cyclist, who was treated for a broken finger, on Ormond Esplanade,
Elwood, in July last year.

Police will call nine witnesses to give evidence including a 12-year
old who witnessed the incident.

A two-day contested hearing is scheduled for May.
